A Penguin's plea to save the environment
Medium: watercolour and newspaper clippings
Size: A3
Description: Starting university broadened my horizons in many ways. Not only did I grow as an academic and learn more about myself, but I became better educated in global crises such as the ongoing wars, and as I have chosen as a topic for this work of art, the effects of global warming. The reason I chose a penguin and not a polar bear or other endangered species affected by the actions of humans was that penguins help me through some of the hardest challenges in life. The more I learn about them, the closer I get to them. They, like us, are trying to survive, and we should be mindful of that and take action, and not destroy their home. Our home. Planet Earth.

Climate Change vs Symbiotic Relationships: the despair of bleached coral
Medium: Watercolour paints, inks and glass paints
Size: A4
Year: 2025
Description: The effects of global warming have become an emergency that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. This artwork aims to warn viewers about the effects of global warming on Earth's oceans, including heating and impacts on ocean life. This is perhaps most evident in the bleached coral, which is home to several species of fish that, in return, clean the coral of algae and pests, deliver nutrients through waste, and help oxygenate the water.

Devastation as Sumatran tigers are depleted due to deforestation
Medium: Watercolour paints, cardboard, newspaper clippings
Size: A4
Year: 2025
Description: Next time you discard your next cardboard box, think about its value and reuse or repurpose it! Do you know that you are using what used to be an animal's home, like the Sumatran tiger’s home? Whilst we go on a frenzy with our online shopping, we are chopping down more trees and limiting the habitat available to Sumatran tigers, which ultimately affects their reproductive rates.

A lonely swim for the Bluefin Tuna
Medium: Watercolour paints, acrylic paints and inks
Size: A4
Year: 2026
Description: Bluefin tuna, a favourite meat for delicacies such as sushi, is less of a delight when we learn about the impact we have on it. Overfishing and a lack of control overfishing rules are leading to rapid declines in species like Bluefin Tuna. Whilst shoals of Bluefin tuna may have returned to the UK, there is still a long way to go in securing their future existence. These fish play an important role in oceans as apex predators and nutrient transporters. Don't be greedy, think of the needy!

Fish in Distress: A fight against plastic
Media: plastic, watercolour paints, felt, coloured paper
Size: A3
Year: 2025
Description: Every year millions of sea creatures digest, get trapped in and die from the plastic that we leave in our oceans. It is time to think more about the environment and less about consumerism. Think twice before buying bottled water!

Ecosystem builders not pests!
Media: water colour paint, inktense pencils, inks
Size: A4
Description: Many people get frustrated by rabbits eating their plants and burrowing into their gardens, not to mention the diseases they carry, but what if we were to look at it a different way? As keystone species, they provide homes for other creatures and fertilise the soil.
